The long weekend is fast approaching! Thanks to Family Day being on Monday, February 19, you can get an extra day to spend some time with your loved ones.
And if you’re in Oakville this weekend, then you’re in luck! The town has many activities that the whole family will enjoy.
With more than 100 activities to do, we break some of them down for you here:
This activity will be sponsored by Boston Pizza Dundas & Neyagawa, and wristbands for admission to all combo and leisure swims will be made available starting at 8:30am at participating pool and arenas.
Helmets and skate rentals will be made available at Joshua’s Creek Arenas, Maple Grove Arena, River Oaks Community Centre and Sixteen Mile Sports Complex.
Come meet Rudy the Clown puppet and his friends, in this high energy show that involves the audience.
This show is appropriate for ages 3 to 10 years old and the tickets are free and can be picked up at the entrance of the Black Box Theatre at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community & Cultural Centre.
Spaces are limited so make sure you pick up your tickets early!
The whole family will be able to have a fun day at Bronte Creek. You can visit the Children’s Farm and explore the barns and outbuildings.
At the Nature Centre you can experience live animals and hands-on displays that highlight Bronte Creek Provincial Park’s natural world. You can expect hands-on nature and heritage crafts inside the centre.
Children under 10 will be able to jump, climb, explore tunnels and more at the children’s Playbarn.
Do you want something more creative to do with your family? Then you can go to Oakville Galleries for a brief exhibition tour and hands-on art activity inspired by the work of Allison Katz.
This program is free of charge and no pre-registration is required.
Discover the local history with your family at the Oakville Museum. You’ll be able to tour Erchless Estate, explore exhibits, watch Freedom, Opportunity and Family: Oakville’s Black History presentation and try your hand at weaving.
This step by step workshop will teach your kids how to make their own succulent terrarium! All materials will be supplied and are included in the cost. This will be a fun and creative activity to do on Family Day, where you can introduce them to plants and how to take care of them.
These activities are not the only ones happening in Oakville this weekend, there’s everything from rock climbing, to Karate and Digital 3D Printing. Most of the activities will be happening at various Recreation Centres in Oakville.
