This past Wednesday the Rob Raham Team went over to volunteer at the Kerr Street Mission to make and serve a BBQ feast for the campers, parents, and staff after a long day of summer camp.
The team bought, cooked, and served a delicious meal, which gave an opportunity to bond and build a relationship with people from the Oakville community and to enjoy the company of others.
Campers and their families were also able to enjoy various fun activities that the Rob Raham Team provided like fun games, face painting, fishing and chalk drawing.
The Kerr Street Day camp has been helping Oakville families and inspiring children for over 20 years. KSM works with over 18 colleges and high school staff to create an unforgettable summer that will be in their memories for a lifetime.
The day camp is not the only great thing that the Kerr Street Mission is doing to help out the Oakville Community:
KSM noticed that many families were not able to afford the basic necessities for their families, and so they formed the KSM food co-op.
The co-op has become known for a market where people can come to Kerr Street and get vouchers which the family can use to shop.
The vouchers are served during community meals where they distribute healthy food options.
Every day there are 5-6 nutritious community meals being offered, purchased, prepared and served by volunteers groups.
For a full schedule of the community meals happening make sure to check out the KSM website.
The Kerr Street Mission has also partnered with the Halton Region to provide a free weekly program for young expectant moms during and after their pregnancy until the baby is 6 months old.
Moms can have access to public health nurses, registered dieticians, pre-natal vitamins, and they are also given a Fresh Food Box each month.
KSM After School Program
This program provides after school care for up to 30 children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5.
Parents are able with the help of KSM to finish their work day with a piece of mind, knowing their kids are getting great care, nutritious snacks, literacy and numeracy programming, and a daily hour of physical activity.
The Kerr Street Mission is doing and providing many wonderful programs and activities for the Oakville community.
If you would like to volunteer or be part of KSM go to their website for full details of their program and contacts.
